The Commonwealth Express
The Commonwealth Express train started out of Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi on June 24th, on its way to Amritsar to coincide with the arrival of the Queen's Baton there tomorrow.
The Commonwealth Express is a special exhibition train designed to promote the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games. It has 11 coaches -- five of which feature rare Commonwealth Games memorabilia, and six of which are devoted to showcasing Information Technology.
The train is scheduled to make over 50 stops all over India, before returning to Delhi on October 2, just before the Games begin. After Amritsar, it will travel up through the Punjab before heading across to Haridwar, and then through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, down through West Bengal, south India, and back to Delhi via Goa, Maharastra, Gujurat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Presently the train is moving in to orissa on August 7
